For over 20 years, the Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival has put on a first-class series of running events beginning with the main event, the Adirondack Marathon, all the way down to a 1k Fun Run for the children. And every year the feedback we receive consistently praises each element of the weekend, from registration to the Pasta Dinner, the race organization to the awards and Finish area festivities.
However, for the past couple of years, the registration for the Marathon has declined. We know from industry sources that growth in marathons has stalled, while Half Marathon and Relay participation continues to experience growth. But our decline is greater then what the industry reports. So, our questions to you: Are we not doing something that we need to do? Is there something that we could do better? Or is there something in the marketing of this event that we should reconsider?
