I have a question regarding the time limit for the marathon since this is my 1st marathon. The website overview page seems to say that the race has a 6.5 hour time limit but it also says that the roads will open and the water stations will stop at 2:30PM (5.5 hours). Then it seems to say later that the time limit had been extended to 6.5 hours. Is there a firm time limit and if so, can I ask what it is us less than stellar runners?
It is very difficult to get around the lake as roads are closed during the race. Details on road closures are clearly spelled out here, along with times: http://www.adirondackmarathon.org/road-closures/
There is a spectator bus that goes to the half-marathon start. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the race expo on Saturday.
There is a municipal boat launch on Dock Street in town. It’s a very short walk to both the start and finish lines. Because of road closures, any vehicles wouldn’t be able to leave the area until after 2:30 pm. (Also, Route 9 from the south of the village to Hoffman Road closes at 8:40 am.)
