Full Marathon & 2-Person Marathon Relay - September 23, 2012
 

Race Information

  • Start time 9 AM sharp; Handcycles start @ 8:50 AM.
  • Bag check for warm-up gear at Stewart’s Shop parking lot. Pick up in the merchandise tent at the Finish Area.
  • Your bib number must be visible at all times during the race.
  • 15 water stations on the course.
  • Finish line water station has water, sport drinks, fruits, vegetables, and other goodies.
  • One minute before the race all runners will be led to the Starting Line.
  • Time to complete this race will be 6 hours. After 2:30 p.m. there will be no services on the course and roads will reopen at their regularly scheduled times.
  • Each runner who completes the course will receive a finisher's medal. Prizes will be given for the top three overall finishers and top three in each age category.

  • 2-PERSON MARATHON RELAY - TRANSITION AREA IN ADIRONDACK, NY; LIMITED TO FIRST 100 2-PERSON TEAMS.
    (RELAY RUNNERS GIVE YOUR RUNNER GEAR BAG TO YOUR TEAMMATE.)

  • All runners must run over the half marathon timing mat and the timing mat at mile 19.8.  If not, they will be disqualified.

  • MILITARY CAN RUN THE MARATHON FOR FREE: Registration fees waived for Military: Active Duty, Guard and Reserve for the Marathon.  Limited to first 60 entries received & Half Marathon, Limited to first 30 entries received.  You must present your CAC card at Packet Pickup to obtain your race bib & chip. Marathon Early Bird Start information:
The Early Bird Marathon start is non-competitive and will receive a gun-start time as well as a finisher's medal but no award.  If you register for the marathon and wish to change your registration to the Early Bird start, you must request the change at least 30 days prior to race day."  Early Bird Start for Non-competitive participants only at 7 a.m. Finish Line open until 3 p.m. “Early Bird Starters” are to be reminded that you are a pedestrian until the lead vehicle passes you. The roads do not officially close until the posted times on the road closure notice. If you choose to start at 7:00 a.m., there will be no support or services on the course until they open at their regularly scheduled times.

The Finish Line hours have been extended until 3 p.m. Cross the Finish Line by 3 p.m. and receive a medal. Packet Pick-up for Early Bird Starters (Non-competitive participants) is Saturday only.

Time to complete this race for early birds will be 8 hours. After 2:30 p.m. there will be no services on the course and roads will reopen at their regularly scheduled times.

  • Saturday: 9/22/12 - Schroon Lake Central School, 1125 US Route 9. 11:00AM – 5:00PM.
  • Sunday: 9/23/12 – Schroon Lake Town Hall, 15 Leland Avenue. 7:00AM – 8:15AM.
  • Official Adirondack Marathon Merchandise:
    Merchandise can be purchased at Packet Pick up and at the finish line on race day.
  • Packet Pick-up for Early Bird Starters (Non-competitive participants) is Saturday only.

  • Please note - You must personally come to the Expo or Packet Pick-Up and show a photo ID
    to pick up your Bib and Chip.  No exceptions will be made - by order of NYS DOT.

Race Data for Half Marathon

Half Marathon - September 23, 2012

Race Information

  • The Half Marathon will be run with the full marathon on September 23, 2012.
  • Start time 10 AM. Limited to 700 runners. 
  • Buses will take the runners to the start of the race. The buses will depart at from 8:50 a.m. until 9:05 a.m. from Rt 9, next to the Yellow Coach Motel, just below the start of the Full Marathon and arrive at the Half Marathon start line by 9:30 a.m.
  • Bags for running gear will be supplied and transported to the merchandise tent at the finish area.
  • The Half Marathon will begin at the 13.1 mile marker and will end at the Full Marathon Finish Line.
  • The runners will run on the easier section of the marathon course.  The first five to six miles are flat; then there are long, gentle hills on Route 9.
  • Each runner who completes the course will receive a finishers medal.  Prizes will be given for the top three overall finishers and top three in each age category.
  • Time to complete this race will be 5 hours. After 2:30 p.m. there will be no services on the course and roads will reopen at their regularly scheduled times. There is no Early Bird Start for Half Marathon walkers.
  • When nearing the Finish Line, please do not have family or friends join you through the Finish Chute.
  • Your bib number must be visible.

Race Data for 5K & 10K

5 & 10K Races - September 22, 2012

  • The 16th running of the Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival 5 & 10K Races will be in Chestertown on September 22, 2012. The course starts at the Town Hall on Rt. 9 in Chestertown. Both races are run on paved streets through the heart of the village.  See the registration form for details on the entry fees.

  • Packet pick-up for the 5/10K will be at the Municipal Center on Route 9 in Chestertown Friday night, September 21, 2012 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM and Saturday morning, September 22, 2012 from 7:00AM - 8:30AM.
     
  • Start at the Municipal Center on Route 9 at 9:30 a.m.
    Bag check at the municipal center for warm-up gear.
    Two water stations on course, plus bottled water available pre and post race
    Food/drink available near the Finish Line
  • The 5K & 10K Races are organized by The Helpers Fund.
    Helping individuals and families deal with catastrophic circumstances is the primary goal of the Helpers Fund. When these circumstances occur, usually without warning and without a chance of preparation, the individuals and families have great difficulty in dealing with them.

    The Fund operates in the Tri-Lakes Area, which includes the towns of Schroon Lake, Olmstedville, Adirondack, Pottersville, Brant Lake, North Creek and Chestertown. The Fund has acted upon requests for help from people living as far north as Plattsburgh and Lake Placid, and as far south as Saratoga Springs and South Glens Falls. All requests for help, regardless of the geographical area, are given equal consideration. The Fund is incorporated under the laws of New York State and is permanently certified as a 501(c)3 Charity under the Internal Revenue Service’s Regulations governing charities. The Fund’s financial statements are available upon request.

  • Race Cancellation Policy:
    ( By Registering to Participate in the Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival, all Participants Agree to be Bound by the Following Terms )

I understand that my registration fee is nonrefundable. If the event is canceled by Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival (AMDF)
due to circumstances beyond their reasonable control such as extreme and potentially dangerous weather
or course conditions, or as the result of governmental action, AMDF may not refund my registration fees.
Any accommodations in such an event will be made at the sole discretion of AMDF.
